Ayurveda believes that sex is a natural biological drive and to deprive oneself out of it may throw him/her out of balance. We are all aware that food and water are the basic requirement to exist in this world, in the same manner everyone needs sex.
Sexual intercourse involves all the five senses sight, sound, smell, taste and touch and it is believed to be an elaborate process of mutual stimulation gifted to man kind by Nature. It views love making as a union of body, mind and soul which is a more fulfilling experience and it also acts as an emotional bond between husband and wife.
According to Ayurveda, intercourse is the divine process and enjoying it in a relaxed manner leads to a healthy offspring. Pure body and a calm mind is a must for an effective intercourse. Parents mental state during the intercourse plays a great role in the overall health of the offspring and ayurveda advises one to undergo a purification therapy that flushes out the doshic imbalance, thereby resulting in a better sex life.
Kapha, one of the tridohas is responsible for keeping up the sexual vigour. Rasa and Shukra are among the seven tissues that help in sexual feelings. Doshic state of parents at the time of conception too influences the child.
By taking some aphrodisiac before entering into a sexual intercourse, the quality and quantity of the semen is promoted and the sexual enjoyment is enhanced. Shukra Stambhaka are the ayuredic drugs that are used to increase the span of love making.
The reproductive tissues are the essence of all dhatus ( tissue elements) which has the power to create life. Sexual intercourse is believed by ayurveda to creat a new life and bring back youthfulness to the couples. It emphasis that during intercourse, the couple’s attention should be focused on the breathing, mind and the semen through which all the three levels of human being viz physical, mental and emotional are being acted upon and intercourse becomes a love meditation
Ayurveda recognizes the importance of a full and active life which facilitates the fulfillment of one’s duties. According to Charaka, the ancient Ayurvedic teacher, even saints and holy men of yore found that their long stay in the plains as mendicants had sapped their vitality. Therefore they sought refuge in the Himalayas where Indra gave them the secret of rejuvenation therapy.
What is Rejuvenation Therapy?
Rejuvenation therapy is known in Ayurveda as Rasayana chikitsa. It seeks to ward off decay and debilitation through a mix of massages, medicines and right conduct. The treatment is indicated for two types of patients: those who have become debilitated prematurely through dissipation and bad habits; and those who are aging naturally but would like to ward off the physical manifestations of old age.
Sexual Rejuvenation
This treatment is known in Ayurveda as Vajeekarana or enhancement of sexual prowess. This is resorted to in case of patients who, though young, have become impotent due to natural causes or due to excessive indulgence; those who have lost their normal sexual urge or those who suffer from the effects of venereal diseases. Semen is considered as one of the seven vital elements of the body. Ayurveda considers semen as the source of physical beauty, energy, intelligence and physical strength. Loss of semen due to over-indulgence or other reasons can lead to severe illnesses including loss of memory, depression and physical weakness.
Ayurveda has very potent and time tested medicines for sexual rejuvenation such as Dasamoolarishta, Aswagandharishta, Saraswatarishta, Sidhamakaradhwajam etc. Body massage, including Njavarakkizhi and dhara are also indicated in persons who are physically weak. Such treatment should, however, be taken on the advice of experts in Ayurveda.

Ayurveda has been widely recognized as a system of natural health care congenial to the health needs of women. All over the world more and more women are turning to herbal medicine so that they have total control on their bodies throughout the year, throughout their lives. Vedas are the ancient books of knowledge, or science, from India. They contain practical and scientific information on various subjects beneficial to the humanity like health, philosophy, engineering, astrology etc. Ayurveda helps women find their own body rhythm, which is closely linked with nature and its changes resulting in lasting solutions to their health problems.
As women respond both mentally and physically better to Ayurveda, it is known as a women’s health care system. Ayurveda gives equal importance to mental health for which a regime of ethical life (sadurutta) is prescribed. Ayurveda is the science of life. Ayurveda is a science dealing not only with treatment of some diseases but is a complete way of life. Strict mental discipline and strict adherence to moral values is considered a pre-requisite for mental health. Finally herbs that are pungent, bitter and astringent ameliorate Kapha-water, which means they tend to increase digestive fire, expel and dry excessive fluid build up in the system, including clearing excessive fat from the body, and the accumulation of cholesterol and other fatty deposits in the veins and arteries of the body.
Ayurveda had recognized the importance of the environment in the total health. Remember, everything in your environment is composed of doshas that interact with your own doshas. Ayurvedic health care enhances the results of Yoga. Ayurvedic healthcare is the best bet for women to stop the aging process. Periodic rejuvenation therapy will keep health, beauty and zest for life intact throughout the years. Ayurveda gives equal importance to mental health for which a regime of ethical life is prescribed. Strict mental discipline and strict adherence to moral values is considered a pre-requisite for mental health. The aim of Ayurveda is to promote health, increase immunity and resistance-and to cure Disease.
Ayurveda understands that health is a reflection of when a person is living in harmony with nature and disease arises when a person is out of harmony with the cycles of nature. Ayurveda helps each individual realign their living patterns to bring about health and peace and to remember that their true nature is Spirit. Ayurveda gives equal importance to both preventive and curative aspects. Ayurveda offers methods of finding out early stages of diseases that are still undetectable by modern medical investigation.
